Hello, I am Luca
Project manager, parent, and an expat based in Rome, Italy.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Italy wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and quickly became something much bigger.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks felt harder than they should have.
The Adjustment Period
We faced culture shock, doubts, and a lot of learning on the job. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt secure.
Why I Built SageWoodStudio
Online information mostly fell into corporate relocation tips or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site is here to close that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Site Represents (And Does Not)
This site REPRESENTS:
- Practical know-how from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site DOES NOT INCLUDE:
- An official tourism authority resource
- Paid-review platform
- A generic travel diary
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Italy continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Luca
